Ribeiro scores in 1-0 win over Tigers

HALIFAX, NS - Team captain Randy Ribeiro (Cambridge, ON) scored in the 28th minute as the StFX X-Men wrapped up the regular season with a 1-0 win over the Dalhousie Tigers Saturday afternoon at Wickwire Field in AUS soccer action.

Ribeiro led StFX with three shots on goal, while freshman midfielder Liam Elbourne contributed two in the win.

Matthew Lannan (Port Williams, NS) made six saves to earn the shutout for the X-Men.

For the AUS regular season, Elbourne led the X-Men with four goals, while Ribeiro and Jordan Roberts (Toronto, ON) chipped in three apiece.

Senior goalkeeper Sam Hutchison (Victoria, BC) recorded three wins and three ties, including three shutouts.

The Tigers outshot the X-Men 13-9, while holding a 5-1 edge in penalty kicks.

The X-Men have locked up third place in the AUS standings and will compete in the upcoming Subway AUS Soccer Championships, which are scheduled for Oct. 31-Nov. 2 at Memorial University in St. John's, Nfld.
