Halifax, NS – The STFX X-Men picked up their second win early into the AUS hockey season with a 3-2 victory on the road against the Dalhousie Tigers Wednesday night.
Ryan McGuire scored the game winning goal at 12:35 of the third period on a penalty shot.
After a scoreless first period the X-Men opened up the scoring a minute and a half into the second as Dominik Godin scored on a breakaway. He picked up a pass from Connor Roberts at the X blue line and skated in alone to beat Tigers netminder Carter Richardson.
Ben Bujold got one back for the Tigers to tie the game 1-1 after 40 minutes.
Lucas Canning made it 2-1 for the X-Men as he deposited a loose puck in the Tigers end after a faceoff scramble midway through the third period.
The Tigers scored late in the game after pulling Richardson in favor of an extra attacker as Bujold found the back of the X net for the second time in the game.
The Tigers outshot the X-Men 36-26.
Jack Milner picked up his first regular season win between the pipe for STFX with 34 saves on the night.
The X-Men will be back in action on home ice Saturday night for their home opening game against the Moncton Aigles Bleus. Puck drop is 7:00 pm at the Keating Centre.
