X-Men lose second consecutive game to Sea-Hawks

St. John's, NF - The Memorial Sea-Hawks capped their weekend home stand at the Field House with a win on Saturday afternoon against the StFX X-Men, the final score being 105-88. The Sea-Hawks ended the weekend with two consecutive wins, bringing their season record to 6-4. the X-Men drop to 5-6.

After a physical first quarter that saw 12 fouls called by the officials, the Sea-Hawks held a narrow lead of 22-20.

Thanks to an eruption of three-point scoring in the second quarter – led by Cole Long with four three-pointers – The Sea-Hawks went into halftime with a solid 12 point lead, 53-41. Long led all players in scoring at the half with an impressive 15 points.

The Sea-Hawks would build on their strong first half by adding 52 second-half points and comfortably defeating the X-Men by a final score of 105-88. Boris Ristanovic punctuated a strong Sea-Hawks performance with back-to-back slam-dunks late in the fourth quarter.

Long and Subway Player of the Game Nathan Barker led all players in scoring with 20 points each, and Ristanovic was close behind with 19. David Muenkat was the top scorer for the X-Men with 19 points.

After securing two wins this weekend, the Sea-Hawks (6-4) sit tied with UPEI for second in the AUS standings behind only the Dalhousie Tigers (7-2). Meanwhile, StFX dropped to a record of 5-6, and currently sit fifth in the standings.

The Sea-Hawks will be back in action next weekend, February 26th and 27th, taking on the Cape Breton Capers on the road. The X-Men will host the UNB Reds in a pair of games at home on Feb. 25th and 26th.
