X-Men drop road game to Capers

Sydney, NS - The Cape Breton Capers picked up a 100-86 victory over the StFX X-Men in AUS men's basketball action Tuesday at the Sullivan Fieldhouse in Sydney.

Fifth-year forward Meshack Lufile poured in a game-high 32 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Capers improved to 6-5 on the season.

Kenny Jean-Louis had 24 points, 12 assists and eight rebounds for the home side while AJ Geugjes and Cedric Kasongo chipped in with 12 points and 11 points respectively.

Kasongo added 10 assists to record the double-double.

Kevin Bercy had 22 points and eight rebounds for the X-Men, who fell to 1-11 overall.

Davonte Provo had 19 points and Cameron Walker finished with 13 points and nine rebounds in a losing cause.

The game was close throughout the first half as Cape Breton led 21-20 after the first quarter and 47-46 at half-time.

The Capers pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring the X-Men 30-23 en route to the win.

Cape Breton will be back in action this Friday and Saturday when they host the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers at the Sullivan Fieldhouse. Game time is set for 8 p.m. both days.

The X-Men are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Halifax for a 3:00 pm game against Saint Mary's. The game will be held at the Scotiabank Centre in conjunction with the Varsity Showdown event.
