"This championship weekend has a rich history in the region," said AUS executive director Phil Currie. "This year, our team is ramping up our efforts to bring new and exciting things to the table for players and fans."

The championship weekend will be jam-packed with entertainment for all ages. Each of the five games will feature a half-time show with live music, dancing, exciting contests and more. Giveaways and fan competitions will take place during timeouts and between quarters.

"One thing we've done this year is create separate student ticket pricing for our university-age fans," Currie continued. "We want all basketball fans to have an opportunity to come out and support their teams. We want to see the Metro Centre filled to the brim and buzzing with excitement. We believe the full potential of this marquee event has yet to be reached and we hope to prove that this year by attracting as many students as possible."

As in past years, the championship weekend will consist of five games played amongst the top six AUS men's basketball teams.

In Friday night's doubleheader, the fourth-seeded team will face off against the fifth-seeded team at 6 p.m., followed by an 8:15 p.m. matchup between the third and sixth-seeded teams.

The first and second-seeded teams will receive a bye to Saturday's semifinal games.

The winners of Friday night's two quarterfinal matchups will advance to play the first and second-ranked teams in Saturday night's doubleheader. Game times will again be 6 and 8:15 p.m. The lowest remaining seed will face off against the conference leaders in the 6 p.m. game and the highest remaining seed will face off against the second-ranked team at 8:15 p.m.

The winners of each of Saturday's semifinal games will face off on Championship Sunday at 2 p.m. for their shot at the 2014 AUS men's basketball banner and the lone guaranteed spot in the CIS men's basketball championship the following weekend in Ottawa, Ont.

As in previous years, the CIS championship will include one wild card team which will be
determined following each of the conference championships.
