StFX Athletics welcomes Alexa Zarins as new Sponsorship & Fund Development Coordinator

ANTIGONISH, NS ­– Director of Development Wendy Langley is pleased to announce the appointment of Alexa Zarins as the new Sponsorship & Fund Development Coordinator for StFX Athletics.

“We are very excited to have Alexa join the Advancement and Athletics teams,” comments Langley. “She is a young alumnus who continued to be engaged with StFX following graduation through our Young Alumni Giving Program and our Women of X-cellence program. She is strong, bright young woman who I am confident will hit the ground running.”

StFX Director of Athletics & Recreation Leo MacPherson is also welcoming of the StFX alumnus, stating, “We are very pleased to welcome Alexa to our team. As a StFX alum and former student-athlete, she brings great energy and passion for StFX and our varsity teams. Her role is essential to our success as she will help drive relationships with our corporate partners, alumni and supporters to new levels.”

Zarins is a 2014 Human Kinetics graduate and a former captain of both the X-Women cross country and track & field programs. During her time at StFX she was a member of the Student-Athlete Leadership Team and participated in the StFX Leadership Academy. A CIS academic all-Canadian, she was appointed to the President’s Circle of Young Alumni and has stayed engaged with the university since receiving her degree.

Alexa has been involved with the X Varsity Club annual giving program and has organized activities for both current and former StFX student-athletes in her native city of Ottawa. She has been a key solicitor for the Adopt-an-Athlete program and the Young Alumni Giving Program for the university, programs she commits to grow in this new position, along with the X Varsity Club and Women of X-cellence. Her most recent employment was as a kinesiologist and social media manager for a physical therapy clinic in Ottawa.

Zarins is looking forward to returning to her alma mater, commenting, “I am excited to be returning to Antigonish and eager to make a positive contribution to StFX, the Athletic department and the greater X community. As well, I am looking forward to enhancing the StFX experience by connecting the proud past with both today's and future student-athletes.”

She will officially begin her full-time Sponsorship & Fund Development Coordinator position with the StFX Advancement and Athletics departments on August 11th.
