Records fall in STFX's 45-3 victory over Bishop's
A balanced ground and air attack along with shutdown defense powered the X-Men to a 45-3 win over the Gaiters
ANTIGONISH, NS - A balanced ground and air attack along with shutdown defense powered the STFX X-Men to a 45-3 win over the Bishop's Gaiters on Saturday afternoon at STFX Stadium. With the win, the X-Men record improves to 5-2 and they move into second place in the AUS standings.
STFX quarterback Silas Fagnan broke the record for most career passing yards in the AUS during the game, while going 22-30 with 231 yards through the air and two touchdowns.

X running back Malcolm Bussey who finished with 3 touchdowns and 92 yards on the ground, became the all-time leader in rushing for STFX.

A pick from STFX defensive back Logan Ritchie set up a Tyson Heather field goal from 16 yards out put the X-Men on the board halfway through the first quarter. The X-Men marched 69-yards down the field on their next possession, with Bussey running one in from seven yards out for the major, and Heather booting the extra point.
Fagnan hit a wide-open Devaughn Blackwood for a 39-yard touchdown pass and catch, with six minutes to go in the second quarter, with Heather's second extra point extending the lead to 17.
Later in the quarter, STFX linebacker Mark Linden recovered a fumbled punt at the Bishop's one yard line, leading to a Sam Tremblay touchdown run and Heather extra point, giving the X-Men a 24-0 lead.
A blocked punt by Ayres Perry with a minute to go in the half gave STFX great field possession, and Bussey added his second major of the game and the kick from Heather made it 31-0 at halftime.
Xavier Gervais hit a 33-yard field goal to put the Gaiters on the board with three minutes left in the third quarter, but Blackwood and Fagnan connected from 25 yards out just before the quarter's end as Blackwood caught his second TD of the afternoon. The score came after Owen Watrych - who finished with a game-high 11.5 tackles - recovered a fumble in Bishop's end.
Bussey punched in another short run for a touchdown late in the game, making the final score 45-3.
Ritchie made some key defensive plays for the X-Men with a pair of interceptions and two break-ups.
Following the game, Coach Waterman presented the AUS record-breaking game ball to Silas Fagnan, who was named the Gabriel Pizza co-player of the game along with Lamcolm Bussey.
The X-Men finish off their regular season on the road Friday, October 14, when they visit the league leading Saint Mary's Huskies at 7 p.m.
