Wasdal, Brooks & Burnham named football athletes of the week

McDonald's X-Men Football Offensive Player of the Week
X-Men quarterback Bailey Wasdal was named the StFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 22, 2019. Bailey, a fourth year Business student (2nd year eligibility) from Calgary, Alta. was the StFX player of the game in their recent loss to SMU. In passing, he was 13 for 26 for 79 total yards, including one touchdown pass, while he also led the team in rushing with 11 carries for 96 yards, averaging 8.7 yards/rush. Bailey is currently averaging 108.5 passing yards per game for the X-Men. 

McDonald's X-Men Football Defensive Player of the Week
X-Men linebacker Dezain Brooks was named the StFX Football Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 22, 2019. Dezain, a fourth year Arts student from Hamilton, Ont. led the X-Men in tackles in their recent loss to SMU with 7.5 in the game, including 7 solo tackles. Dezain also had a sack for a loss of six yards. He currently has 13.5 tackles on the season, averaging 3.4 tackles per game. 

McDonald's X-Men Football Special Teams Player of the Week
X-Men kicker/punter Keiran Burnham was named the StFX Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 22, 2019.  Keiran, a fourth year Arts student (5th year eligibility) from Cambridge, Ont. continued his strong play for the X-Men this season in their recent loss to SMU. Keiran booted a pair of field goals from 14 and 18 yards out, and he had 8 punts in the game. His punting yardage was 324, with an average of 40.5 yards/punt, including 3 kicks inside the 20. He also had 4 kick-offs for 216 yards, averaging 54.0 yards/kick. Keiran leads the AUS with a 41.8 kicking average.
