Cook, Smith and Fermin named StFX football athletes of the week

X-Men Football Offensive Player of the Week
X-Men quarterback Tivon Cook was named the StFX Football Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 21, 2014. Tivon, a third year Arts student from Scarborough, Ont., was 15 for 29 in completions for 277 total yards on Saturday as the X-Men beat Acadia 38-29. He also had one rush for a yard and threw 3 touchdown passes (51, 18 and 2 yards). Tivon currently leads the AUS conference in touchdown passes with 7 and leads in average passing yards per game at 217.7 as the X-Men improved to 2-1 on the season.  

X-Men Football Defensive Player of the Week
X-Men football linebacker Andrew Smith was named the StFX Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 21, 2014. Andrew, a first year Business student from Whitby, Ont. had 5 solo and 1 assisted tackle in the X-Men's 38-29 win over Acadia on Saturday. He also had 2 tackles for a loss of 4 yards and an interception return for 7 yards. In three games played this season Andrew has 8 total tackles.

X-Men Football Special Teams Player of the Week
X-Men defensive back Nathaniel Fermin was named the StFX Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 21, 2014. Nathaniel, a second year Arts student from Pickering, Ont. was singled out for his hustle and tenacity on special teams play in the X-Men's 38-29 win over Acadia on Saturday. He also had 1 solo and 2 assisted tackles in the game, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 fumble recovery. In three games played this season Nathaniel has 9.5 total tackles.
