Alumni Aquatic Centre (ACC) Daily Program Schedule

Alumni Aquatic Centre offers a range of Daily drop-in programming for StFX and Antigonish Community.  Membership or day pass required for programming.  

PUBLIC SWIM DESCRIPTIONS

LANE SWIM
With the pool divided into six 25-metre lengths, lanes are divided based on swimmers’ swim pace – slow, medium & fast.  Lane swim is a self-directed swim workout in which swimmers must swim in circles to the right of the lane.

OPEN SWIM
A leisure swim for all persons. 

PARENT & TOT
A leisure swim open to parents/guardians/caregivers and preschool children up to five years old.  Children must be accompanied by an adult and remain within arms’ reach for the duration of the swim.

GENDER DIVERSIY SWIM
A leisure swim in which all persons, identities and bodies are welcome & celebrated.

ADAPTIVE SWIM
A leisure swim in a low sensory environment for any person with a physical, emotional, behavioural or learning disability or impairment.  Private swimming lessons are, also, available for adaptive swimmers.

FOR WOMEN
A leisure swim of inclusivity for religious purposes open to female swimmers and their young children. 

ACTIVE AGING
A leisure swim dedicated to community members who are over 45 to maintain physical and social wellness.

POOL PARTY / THEME NIGHT
A two-hour leisure swim with a different fun-filled theme each session.  Participants must pass the required swim-test to partake in some events.

WATER AEROBICS

AQUA ARTHRITIS
Best for beginners to take advantage of the water’s natural benefits.  The class incorporates balance and posture training to move & lengthen sore muscles and increase joint flexibility for improved range of motion.

AQUA MOVES
A medium-paced full-body workout using the natural qualities of the water. 

AQUA POWER
A high-energy aerobic workout for full-body muscular conditioning and strength using the water’s natural resistance. 

AQUA FIT
High-energy intervals of cardiovascular conditioning integrated into muscular strength sets for a full-body workout.  A great way to add another dimension to any fitness routine.
