STFX mourns the passing of Father Stan
Xaverians all over are mourning the loss of a true STFX icon, Rev. Stanley MacDonald.
(Antigonish, NS) - Xaverians all over are mourning the loss of a true STFX icon, Rev. Stanley MacDonald. More affectionately known as 'Father Stan', he was a beloved fan of all STFX sports, bringing inspiration and affection to student-athletes, alumni, fans and supporters of all ages. He will be dearly missed.
StfX Director of Athletics & Recreation Leo MacPherson notes, "Father Stanley MacDonald was very much the heart and soul of StFX Athletics. He was the ultimate fan - his superpower was kindness, and the cornerstone of his greatness was how deeply he cared. He supported every team, every student-athlete, and every moment that brought our community together. His presence lifted us all, and his legacy of compassion and unwavering support will never be forgotten."

"Go X Go! Go X Go! Go X Go!" It's a chant known well to fans of the StFX X-Men and X-Women varsity sports teams. But when delivered by the distinctive voice of Father Stanley MacDonald, the words bring on increased excitement and ignite energy in StFX partisan crowds in the arena, gymnasium, stadium and alongside the running trails at the Antigonish, N.S. university. Father Stanley MacDonald and Mary Lillian MacDonald were honored as the co-recipients of the 2013 StFX Athletics 'X-Ceptional Award,' which recognizes individuals who go above and beyond their responsibilities and contribute in a positive manner to StFX Athletics.
Excerpt from the 2013 STFX Athletics Awards Gala awards release: Well known amongst university circles, both Father Stanley and Mary Lillian are loyal StFX Athletics supporters and fans. Combined, they have attended hundreds of X-Men and X-Women games over the years, and continue to be fixtures in the stands today. Their spirit, enthusiasm, unwavering support, and loyal dedication to the blue and white does not go unnoticed by the X athletes, coaches and staff, and they serve as inspirational StFX ambassadors.
