AUS team defends Kehoe Golf Classic tournament title

The 23rd annual Father Kehoe Golf Classic, presented by the X Varsity Club, took place Friday afternoon, July 15th at the Antigonish Golf & Country Club. A full field of 36 teams of 144 golfers participated in the four-person scramble, which honors the legacy of StFX alumnus and former athlete, coach and Athletic Director Father George Kehoe, in addition to raising funds for scholarships for StFX student-athletes.

The Atlantic University Sport team defended their tournament title, winning top low gross honors (56) as the tournament champions for the second consecutive year, needed retrogression to take the title. With members from Antigonish and Halifax, the team consisting of Ron JJ MacDonald, Scott MacInnis, Felix Sampson and Anthony Borden were winners of the MacDonald Chisholm Insurance Trophy.

The tournament runner up (56) was the Homeward Inns team from Antigonish, whose team members included David Cusack, Josh Bouchie, Donnie Grant and Andrew MacPherson.

The recipients of the Irene McFarland Memorial trophy for the top low net score (44) in the tournament was the Ross Screenprint team from Antigonish, consisting of Daniel Ross, Blaise Ross, Murray MacNeil and Todd Gorman.  Cole Harbour Rugby took home second low net honors (47) with team members consisting of Dale Genette, Dale McLeod, Neill Bisson and Peter Lenihan.
