X-Women hockey goaltender Sojung Shin was named the StFX Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 7, 2016. Sojung, a fourth year Human Kinetics student (3rd year eligibility) from Seoul, Korea posted 97 saves in three games this week. Tuesday she earned a 2-0 shutout win over CIS No. 7 St. Thomas with 37 saves and received player of the game honors. On Saturday she had 38 saves as the X-Women lost a close 3-2 game in a 16-person shoot-out to Mount A. Sojung was also named the game’s third star. On Sunday, she had 22 saves, playing in 2 periods and allowing only one goal against in a 4-0 loss to Moncton. Sojung is currently second overall in the AUS in both save percentage (.934) and goals against average (1.84).
