X-Women hockey forward Kara Power was named the StFX Female Athlete of the Week (co-winner) for the week ending Feb. 21, 2016. Kara, a first year Education student (4th year eligibility) from New Glasgow, NS had six points in two AUS quarter-final playoff game victories this week, helping the X-Women advance to the semifinals. In Wednesday’s 3-0 win over MtA, she scored the X-Women’s second goal and assisted on the other two, while on Friday’s 5-2 win, she also had 1 goal and 2 assists. Her shorthanded, unassisted marker later in the third period helped seal the win and 2-0 series victory for StFX. Kara is currently second overall in AUS playoff scoring.

X-Women basketball center Kolbi Roper was named the StFX Female Athlete of the Week (co-winner) for the week ending Feb. 21, 2016. Kolbi, a fifth year Arts student from North Vancouver, BC played two strong games in her final home games as an X-Woman over the weekend. In Friday’s 78-70 loss to SMU she netted 16 points and had 9 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block. On Saturday Kolbi had an incredible individual performance, scoring 30 points and hauling in 17 rebounds in a close 75-72 loss to CBU. She also added 1 assist, 5 steals and 1 block and received player of the game honors. She is currently averaging 12.2 PPG (9th overall in AUS) and 8.9 RPG (3rd overall in AUS).
