X-Women rugby prop Joanna Alphonso was named the StFX Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 12, 2014. Joanna, a first year Arts student from Ajax, Ont., played two strong games for the CIS ranked No. 1 X-Women this weekend as they won exhibition games in Montreal against McGill (34-17) and CIS No. 9 Concordia (40-21). Joanna scored a try in each game, had many big, defensive tackles and powerful runs. In AUS regular season play this season, Joanna has been a key force in the X-Women starting line-up in only her first season of play.
