Moncton, NB - A two-goal performance by Subway player of the game Tyra Meropopulis lifted the StFX X-Women to a 3-0 win over the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues Friday night at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena.

Meropoulis opened the scoring in the game at 15:33 of the first period, converting a nice pass from Emerson Elliott on a 2-on-1.

The X-Women outshot the Aigles Bleues 11-8 in the first period.

Moncton played a stronger second period and outshot the visitors 11-5 but both teams were held scoreless.

Meropoulis' second goal came on the power play midway through the third period. Lindsey Donovan took the puck into the Moncton zone and worked it to an open Meropoulis who made no mistake depositing it in the Moncton net.

Kristen McKinley scored the third goal for the blue and white as she intercepted an Aigles Bleues puck in the StFX zone as they were on a power play and broke in alone and scored on Moncton netminder Audrey Berthiaume on a nice shorthanded marker.

Final shots in the game ended even at 24 apiece as Jamie Johnson earned the shutout victory in the StFX net.

With 21 saves, Berthiaume suffered the loss as Moncton has been shutout for three consecutive games.

Both teams are back in action on Saturday to close out AUS regular season first term action. Moncton travels to Halifax to meet the Dalhousie Tigers, while the X-Women are in Charlottetown to face-off against the UPEI Panthers.
