X-Men finish an impressive third in interlock meet in Montreal

Montreal, QC – At the interlock meet in Montreal hosted by UQAM on Saturday afternoon the StFX X-Women placed seventh overall amongst 14 teams, and the StFX X-Men came in an impressive third position amidst 15 squads.

On the women's side, Queen's took home first place with 50 points, followed by Laval with 70 and McGill in a close third place with 71. The X-Women tallied 166 points on the day.

The top finisher was Jane Hergett who came in 12th place in the 8k race featuring 141 runners. She clocked in at 30:50.41. Paige Chisholm was the next X finisher in 29th place with a time of 31:41.18 and Ashley Robson was 31st at 32:00.76.

On the men's side, Paul MacLellan came in 12th place overall amongst a large field of 174 runners. He finished with a time of 25:33.62 in the 10k. Jacob Benoit was 21st for X, finishing at 26:07.75, while Graydon Staples was 29th at 26:27.69.

The X-Men had 140 points in third place, three points ahead of their AUS conference rival Dalhousie. Laval took top honours with 28 points and Queen's was second with 61.

The meet featured athletes from various U SPORTS and collegiate schools from the RSEQ and AUS conferences.

The StFX squads will next see action at the AUS championship in two weeks. The conference titles will handed out in Fredericton on Saturday, October 26th as UNB hosts. Race times are 12:00 and 12:45 pm.
