X runners win both team titles at Moncton Invitational

Moncton, NB – Both the X-Women and X-Men won their respective team titles at the Moncton Invitational Saturday afternoon.

With 37 points, the X-Women narrowly edged out the second place Acadia Axewomen with 36. The host Moncton Aigles Bleues were third with 93.

Zoe Johnston and Hana Marmura came fourth and fifth for StFX in the 6k race, clocking in together with times of 25:06.50 and 25:06.80, respectively.

The overall race winner was Carol-Ann MacDonald from Moncton at 24:04.70. Acadia's Katie Robinson (24:10.00) and Madalyn Higgins (24:49.60) were second and third.   

StFX runners then placed 7th, 9th, 11th and 12th to take home the team title. Paige Chisholm with a time of 25:30.10 came 7th for the X-Women, followed by Jane Hergett (25:38.60) in 9th and Ashley Robson (25:45.50) and Breanna Sandluck (26:06.60) in 11th and 12th. Lauren Liem rounded out the StFX finishers at 26:50.20 in 19th position.

On the men's side, it was a podium sweep for the blue and white as Angus Rawling (27:26.30), Alex Neuffer (27:43.30), and Paul MacLellan (28:46.90) came 1-2-3.

With 21 points, the X-Men beat out the Dalhousie Tigers who had 49. Memorial was third with 73 and Moncton fourth at 132.

Also finishing in the top 10 for the X-Men were Aidan Doherty in 7th place with a time of 29:25.70, and Addison Derhak in 8th at 29:30.50. Luc Gallant (29:58.40) and Patrick Marlow (30:17.90) placed 11th and 13th, while Edward MacDonald (30:42.50) was 17th.

Rounding out the X finishers in the 10k race were Graydon Staples (20th, 31:12.70), Jonah Shankel (23rd, 31:49.20) and Quinton Alexander (25th, 32:28.90).

The meet marked the last one of the AUS regular season. The Subway AUS Championship is next on the agenda and will be held on Saturday, October 27th in Halifax.
