X-Women run to fifth place showing at interlock meet

FREDERICTON, NB – At the AUS-RSEQ interlock meet hosted by UNB on Saturday, the X-Women ran to a fifth place showing amongst 12 teams.

The Laval Rouge et Or dominated Saturday's six kilometre cross country race through Fredericton's Odell Park as Laval runners swept the podium. Anne-Marie Comeau finished first, in a time of 20:58, ahead of teammates Jesse Lacourse and Aureli Dube-Lavoie.

Michelle Reddy, of the Dalhousie Tigers, was the first Atlantic University Sport finisher. She ran fifth. DAL's Savanna Jordan and Sophie Watts ran 6th and 7th, while Acadia's Katie Robinson was 8th.

Zoe Johnston was the top StFX finisher in 21st place with a time of 23:26. She was followed closely by her teammates who placed 23 through 26 including Hana Marmura (23:31), Jane Hergett (23:32), Paige Chisholm (23:33) and Catharine Thompson (23:35).

Ashley Robson, with a time of 23:55 was 33rd overall, while Breanna Sandluck (24:49) and Lauren Liem (25:33) were 53rd and 68th, respectively.

A total of 107 AUS and RSEQ runners tackled the course that saw Dalhousie (80 points) and Montreal (88) place second and third behind the top Laval squad who had 25 points on the day.

Sherbrooke was fourth with 89 and the X-Women had 114. Rounding out the team placings were Acadia, UQTR, UQAM, UPEI, Saint Mary's, UNB and Husson.
