StFX runners place 7th at Laval interlock meet

Quebec City, QC – The X-Men and X-Women cross country teams both placed 7th overall at the Laval Invitational interlock meet held Saturday afternoon on the always challenging Plains of Abraham course.

In the 8k race, the X-Women garnered 209 points in their seventh place finish. The host Laval squad won top spot with 28 points, followed by McGill (46) and Dalhousie (91). The top individual finishers were Anne-Marie Comeau (29:00) from Laval, Maggie Dargis (29:11) from McGill and Aurelie Dube-Lavooie (29:19), also from Laval.

Amongst the field of 132 competitors, the top X-Women finisher was Catherine Thompson in 30th place with a time of 32.38. Rachal MacDougall (32:57) was 37th and Liz MacDonald (33:10) was 45th. On the men's side, Laval again came out on top, earning 33 points on the afternoon. Dalhousie (109) was second, followed by McGill (112). The X-Men had 243 points on the day in their seventh place showing.

Individual race winners were Laval's Yves Sikubwabo (31:43) and Dany Racine (31:56), followed by McGill's Francois Jarry (32:08). Third year X-Men runner Angus Rawling had an impressive fifth place finish, clocking in at 32:12. Paul MacLellan (22:28) placed 16th overall and Ed MacDonald (35:40) was 57th for StFX amongst the field of 148.

Next on the schedule for the blue and white will be their own StFX Invitational event taking place on Saturday, October 14th on the campus of StFX University. Race times are 12:00 and 12:45 pm.
