X-Women finish third at interlock meet

Fredericton, NB – The X-Women cross country team ran to a third place showing at the UNB / St. Thomas interlock meet Saturday afternoon.

The 6k race featured six AUS and eight RSEQ teams with 143 individual runners.

The McGill Martlets were first with 51 points, following by Dalhousie with 75 and StFX with 85. Rounding out the top five were Montreal (90) and Laval (112).

The individual race winner was Melanie Myrand from McGill, clocking in at 21:27.72. Laval's Auréli Dubé-Lavoie (21:49.16) placed second amongst university competitors, while Catherine Gagnon (22:30.33) from UQAM was third.

The X-Women placed two runners on the top ten. Liz MacDonald placed 6th with a time of 22:42.07 while Mary MacDonald (22:57.05) was 11th.

The remaining X competitors included Heidi MacDonald (21st, 23:33.02), Paige Chisholm (24th, 23:37.02), Zoe Johnston (25th, 23:37.02), Rachel MacDougall (35th, 24:03.63), Ashley Robson (41st, 24:15.75), Olivia MacDonald (44th, 24:23.25) and Catherine Thompson (54th, 24:44.41).

The meet marked the final one of the regular season for the X-Women. They will have one weekend off before hosting the Subway AUS Championship on their home course on the campus of StFX University on Saturday, October 29th.

The women's 6k championship race is scheduled for 12:00 pm, followed by the men's 10k race at 12:45 pm.
