X-Men claim top honors at SMU/DAL Invitational

Halifax, NS – The defending AUS champion X-Men cross country team competed in their first meet of the AUS season at the DAL/SMU Invitational Saturday in Point Pleasant Park, running to a first place finish amongst seven teams.

The X-Men placed six runners in the top ten as they tallied 22 points for the first place showing in the 6k race. Dalhousie placed second with 37 points and Memorial was third with 112.

Rounding out the team standings were UNB (125), Saint Mary's (132), Moncton (150) and UPEI (164).

Third year runner Alex Neuffer (Stratford, PE) was the top X-Men finisher in second place, crossing the line with a time of 19:32. Teammates Cal DeWolfe (Bridgewater, NS) and Scott Donald (Ottawa, ON) were third and fourth with respective times of 19:40 and 19:52.

Matt MacNeil of Dalhousie was the overall race winner with a time of 19:22.

Also finishing in the top ten for the X-Men were freshman Angus Rawling (Calgary, AB) with a time of 19;55 in sixth, along with Riley Johnston (Pembroke, ON) and Nick Favero (Rockland, ON) in seventh and eighth, both with times of 20:05.

Next on the schedule for the X-Men is their own StFX Invitational meet, slated for Saturday, September 26th. Race time is 12:45 pm on the StFX campus.
