X-Men claim top spot in consecutive AUS meets

Fredericton, NB – The StFX X-Men won their second consecutive AUS meet of the season, claiming top spot at the UNB/St. Thomas Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Odell Park. They previously won the Acadia Invitational last weekend in Wolfville, NS.

The X-Men's 20 points bettered that of second place UNB who scored 57. Saint Mary's came third with 62 points, followed by Moncton with 120.

Third year runner Lee Wesselius was StFX's top finisher for the second consecutive week. He came second overall in Fredericton, posting a time of 25:59 in the 8k event. Saint Mary's John Kuto was the race winner at 25:50.

In another strong team performance, the X-Men placed seven runners in the top eight, as the blue and white crossed the line in second through eighth places.

Scott Donald (26:14) was third, followed closely by teammates Alex Neuffer (26:17), Cal DeWolfe (26:19), Alex Cyr (26:20), Riley Johnston (26:25) and Stuart MacPherson (26:34) in fourth through eighth spots, respectively.

Also racing for the X-Men in the field of 43 runners was Nick Favero (27:05), Ryan Hatchard (27:16), ed MacDonald (27:32) and Ryan Fuller (28:46).

Next on the schedule for the X-Men is the Universite de Moncton Invitational on Saturday, October 4th.
