X-Men cross country alumni run to strong showing at Montreal half-marathon

A trio of X-Men cross country alumni placed in the top 15 at the recent Montreal half marathon, including the overall race winner Eric Gillis. The race was held on Sunday, April 27th as a Canada Running Series event.

Gillis completed the 21k in a time of 1:04:27.4 to earn top spot amongst a field of 243 in his age category. The 33 year old Antigonish, N.S. native is a two-time Olympian and StFX cross country alumnus who lives and trains out of Guelph, Ont. 

Gillis was joined in the top five by fellow X-Men alumnus Daniel McNeil, a 28 year old from Glace Bay, N.S. who placed fifth overall with a time of 1:08:47.1. He also topped his age category of 168 racers.

Also joining the elite finishers was 26 year old Brent Addison from Halifax. N.S. was who 13th overall with a 1:10:56.9 showing.

Gillis is coming off a recent win at the Yonge Street 10k race in Toronto two weeks ago.
