Melissa Hardy of the St. Francis Xavier women's cross country team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 6, 2013.

A fifth-year integrated dietetic internship student in her third year of eligibility from Deer Lake, N.L., Hardy was the winner of the women's 6km race at this past weekend's Saint Mary's/Dalhousie Invitational cross country meet.

Her time of 21:59 was good enough to beat out 71 other runners from eight AUS schools and help the X-Women to a second-place team finish.

Hardy was also the winner of the UNB/St. Thomas Invitational meet Sept. 14 and came in second at the StFX Invitational Sept. 21.

Cole MacMillan of the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers men's soccer team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 6, 2013.

A second-year arts student in his third year of eligibility from Stanhope, P.E.I., MacMillan scored five goals in three games this past week to give the Panthers their first three wins of the season.

MacMillan scored the first of two team goals in UPEI's 2-1 win over AUS No. 3 ranked Moncton on Wednesday. He then contributed the game-winning goal in Saturday's 2-1 victory over the Memorial Sea-Hawks.

He followed these performances up Sunday by scoring three of UPEI's four goals against Memorial in their 4-0 win.
