X-Women runners finish 1-2-3 in Blue Nose 5k

X-Women runners faired well at the recent Johnson 5k race held in conjunction with the Scotiabank Blue Nose marathon in Halifax. Blue and white runners placed first, second and third amongst 1334 total female competitors.

Recent StFX graduate Natasha Herron was the top female finisher, winning the race with a time of 18:40.5. The native of Orilla, Ont. who completed two years of eligibility for the X-Women, placed first amongst 322 females in the 20-29 age group category and amongst the 1334 total women. She also placed 7th overall in the race that featured 2016 male and female competitors.

Bedford, N.S. native Meggie Soehl, a 2012 X-Women alumnus, was second amongst the female runners, crossing the finish line at 18:47.6.

Melissa Hardy, another recent StFX graduate and native of Deer Lake, Nfld, was third overall at 18:59.6. Hardy was the top StFX finisher at the 2012 AUS championship and won AUS gold at the 2013 track and field championship in both the 1500m and 3000m events. She returns to the X-Women program this fall for her third year of eligibility.
