Getting to Know...Riley Johnston

X-Men cross country runner Riley Johnston is the latest athlete featured in our Getting to Know your X-Women and X-Men series throughout the summer. Riley recently completed his first year with the X-Men and is a Science student from Pembroke, Ont.

Nickname:  Sunshine

What brought you to StFX?
The serene landscape, the ever so consistent weather, the supple ocean air, the beautiful town, and more importantly the chance to run kind of fast, and Water (Aquatic Resources).

What has been your best moment in a StFX uniform so far?
At the AUS cross country championship I fell less than 50m into the race and was bleeding from all corners of my body, I didn’t think I could finish. But I popped back up and kept trudging, with 1k to go it was myself, Connor McGuire, and the rookie from DAL Matt McNeil. With 500m to go it was myself and Matt battling for 2nd place and rookie of the year honors, even though my body was in an extreme amount of pain I pulled away. Our team won AUS with 21 points.

One thing I cannot live without is…?
My exceptionally odd patterned short shorts.

If I could have super-hero powers I would…?
Oh, I didn’t tell you. I’m the Flash

My biggest pet peeve is…?
People who don’t want to run with me in fear that I am too fast.

My dream vacation destination is…?
Ireland

My dream job is…?
Trophy husband

Stairs are my kryptonite.
