Antigonish, NS - The StFX X-Women overcame a first-half 1-0 deficit against the visiting Dalhousie Tigers in on Friday afternoon at STFX Stadium to earn a 2-1 victory. The game marked the first pre-season exhibition game for both squads.

The first-half saw both teams play composed soccer with quality on the deck passing that led to quality scoring chances for both teams. However, as the half progressed, the Tigers began to dominate territorially and Elyse Evans (Toronto, ON) goal on the stroke of half-time was fully deserved for the Tiger efforts.

Despite being down a goal, the X-Women stuck to their game plan of playing out from the back. Their patience was richly rewarded with two second-half goals. Rookie Meghan Lineger (Comox, BC) opened the scoring for the X-Women in the 55th minute.

The X-Women poise and pressure saw DAL concede an unfortunate own goal in the 76th minute that was the difference between the two teams after 90-minutes of entertaining soccer.

The Tigers will travel to Wolfville on Monday to face the Axewomen for a 12pm start in another pre-season match.
