X-Women soccer split exhibition games

Antigonish, NS – The StFX X-Women played a pair of pre-season exhibition matches over the weekend and came out on the winning and losing end of two 1-0 games.

On Saturday morning they X-Women fell 1-0 to the Bishop's Gaiters out of the RSEQ. The lone goal came in the 39th minute late in the opening half from Alanna Jacobs.

On Sunday StFX defeated the Memorial Sea-Hawks 1-0. All-Canadian midfielder Mercy Myles netted the X-Women goal early in the second half.

Head coach Graham Kennedy noted, "We played multiple players as we used the games to evaluate new players. Overall, it was a positive weekend of games but lots of work ahead."

The X-Women have one more exhibition game remaining on the pre-season schedule. They will host Dalhousie on Saturday, August 31st in a 1:00 pm game at the Chedabucto Lifestyle Complex in neighbouring Guysbrough county.

Atlantic University Sport regular season play begins on Friday, September 6th when the X-Women host UPEI at 5:00 pm at StFX Stadium.
