Antigonish, NS - The StFX X-Women soccer team closed out the pre-season X-Women Invitational tournament with a 1-0 loss to the Dalhousie Tigers in exhibition play at StFX Oland Stadium Friday morning.
The lone goal of the game was scored by the Tigers Adelle Goodfellow in the 70th minute in the second half. Kate Fines and Sam Corcoran handled the goalkeeping duties for the Tigers.
Emma Kuzmyk and Miranda Clark tended the X-Women goal as several new X-Women players saw action in the pre-season match.
The Cape Breton Capers and Mount Allison Mounties played for the Invitational title and it was the Capers who took the win with a 6-0 shutout score.
AUS regular season play begins next weekend. The X-Women open the season on the road to UPEI on Saturday, Sept. 9th. Game time is 3:00 pm in Charlottetown against the Panthers.
The X-Women home opener will be played Sunday, Sept. 10th at StFX Oland Stadium at 1:00 pm against the Saint Mary's Huskies.
