WOLFVILLE, N.S. – A hard fought end-to-end battle between the StFX X-Women and the host Acadia Axewomen resulted in a 2-2 tie.

With the single point earned, the Axewomen (6-0-2) clinched an AUS playoff berth, joining Memorial (7-1-0) and Cape Breton (9-0-0) who have also secured a berth in playoff action. The X-Women (4-1-3) currently sit in fourth place in the AUS standings.

The Axewomen were quick on the attack in the opening minute resulting in Acadia's Subway Player of the Game, Michelle Pryde's (Calgary, Alta.) third goal of the season to establish a 1-0 lead early on.

Twenty five minutes later, Mercy Myles (Accra, Ghana) tied the game on an unassisted goal.

Candace Conrad (Dartmouth, N.S.) pushed Acadia back into the lead at the 32 minute mark on an unassisted effort by Conrad in picking up the lose ball in the box.

Two minutes into the second half, Kelsey Ellis (Ottawa, Ont.) tied the game at two.

Pressure from both sides continued for the remaining 43 minutes and extra time, with both teams posting great goal scoring opportunities.

The X-Women landed six shots on net of 12, while the Axewomen recorded 11 shots with five landing on net. Both Acadia's Emma Connell (Hampton, N.B.) and StFX's Erin Visser (Whitby, Ont.) made several key saves for their respective teams to keep the game deadlocked at two.

The X-Women will travel to New Brunswick to take on Mount Allison and UNB on Friday and Saturday while the Axewomen are home for matches against Dalhousie on Friday and Cape Breton on Sunday.
