Mary MacDonald of the St. Francis Xavier X-Women's soccer team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport female athlete of the week for the week ending Sept. 7, 2014.

A second-year nursing student in her third year of eligibility, MacDonald scored key goals in each X-Women game this past weekend to contribute to two wins and a 2-0 start to the AUS season.

In Saturday's 4-0 shutout over Saint Mary's, the Kingston, Ont. native scored the first goal of the game early in the 45th minute. She also assisted in the third goal of the game.

In Sunday's 2-1 victory over Mount Allison, MacDonald again scored the X-Women's first goal of the game to less than a minute after the Mounties opened the scoring.

Diego Padilha of the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds men's soccer team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending Sept. 7, 2014.

A second-year engineering student from Maceió, Brazil, Padilha played a key role in UNB's two weekend wins over the Memorial Sea-Hawks.

He posted an assist in Saturday's 4-0 victory and the first Varsity Reds goal in Sunday's 2-1 win at Memorial. Padilha was named Subway player of the game for his efforts in Sunday's matchup.
