Olivia DeMerchant of the StFX X-Women rugby team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport female athlete of the week for the week ending Nov. 4, 2018.

A fifth-year science student from Bedell, N.B., DeMerchant was named the tournament MVP in the U SPORTS women's rugby championship held this past weekend in Wolfville, N.S.

She scored three tries over the weekend and was also named a tournament all-star as the X-Women won three games to secure the national title—their sixth gold medal finish in women's rugby.

DeMerchant was named the player of the game in StFX's win over Laval in the semifinals. She had another strong performance in the gold medal game versus Guelph.

Cory Bent of the Cape Breton Capers men's soccer team is the Subway Atlantic University Sport male athlete of the week for the week ending Nov. 4, 2018.

A third-year community student from Preston, United Kingdom, Bent was named tournament MVP of the Subway AUS Men's Soccer Championship hosted this past weekend in Sydney, N.S.

He fired eight shots and assisted on a goal in the Capers' 3-0 win over the Dalhousie Tigers in the semifinals.

He then went on to score the game-winning goal in the championship final as Cape Breton captured their third consecutive AUS title. Bent was also named Subway Player of the Game in the final for his efforts.
