CIS No. 4 ranked StFX defeat SMU 79-0

(Halifax, NS)--Anna Horner (Stouffville, ON) had three tries as the CIS No. 4 ranked StFX X-Women defeated the SMU Huskies 79-0 in AUS women's rugby action Wednesday night. 

Seven different players scored on the night and fullback Dominique Lalande (Halifax, NS) handled the convert attempts for the X-Women who improve to 5-0 on the season.

StFX had seven tries in the first half and led 43-0 at halftime. Tries were scored by Amelia Hatfield (Halifax, NS) and Sammy Nadeau (Bewdley, ON) with two each, along with singles from Sara McCarron (Antigonish, NS), Alex Hamilton (Eastern Passage, NS) and StFX Sophia Parker (Windsor, NS).

Parker also earned Subway player of the game honors for the X-Women.

Six tries in the second half saw the X-Women earn the 79-0 victory. Parker added another try on the evening while No. 8 player Anna Horner (Stoufville, ON) crossed the try line three times for the blue and white. June Beals (North Preston, NS) scored a pair of tries to round out the evening scoring for StFX.

Lalande booted seven conversions over the course of the game for the X-Women for 14 points.

StFX travels Thanksgiving weekend to Ottawa for a pair of exhibition games versus the Carleton Ravens and the Ottawa Gee-Gees, then visits the UPEI Panthers (2-2) October 15th to finish AUS regular season play.

Saint Mary's falls to 0-5 on the year and host the Acadia Axewomen (2-2) October 16th at Huskies Stadium.
