X-Women handle Panthers in AUS rugby action

Charlottetown, PE – The top ranked CIS No. 1 X-Women rugby team improved their AUS record to 2-0 with a 48-5 victory over the UPEI Panthers (0-2) Saturday afternoon.

Seven different X-Women scored tries in the game while fourth year fly half Sabrina McDaid (Scraborough, ON) booted four conversions for eight points.

Third year X-Women center Breanna Allison (Cole Harbour, NS) scored two tries in the game.

Single tries came from Joanna Alphonso (Ajax, ON), Jayme Ward (Kingsotn, ON), Brooke Newsome (Brantford, ON), Lauren Agnew (Stittsville, ON), Natalie Lesco (London,ON), and Dominique Lalande (Halifax, NS).

The defending national champs led 29-5 over the Panthers at halftime. The lone UPEI try was scored by Alysha Corrigan (Charlottetown, PE).

Third year X-Women centre Jaelei Meyer (Carlyle, SK) received Subway player of the game honors for her efforts in the victory.

The Panthers will travel to Halifax on September 26th for a 7:00 pm game against the Saint Mary's Huskies (0-2).

Next on the AUS schedule for the X-Women is a match-up between two undefeated teams as they host the Acadia Axewomen (2-0) on Sunday, September 27th. Game time is 2:00 pm at StFX Oland Stadium.
