Subway AUS Women's Rugby Championship Schedule

The 2013 Subway Atlantic University Sport women's rugby championship hosted by the University of Prince Edward Island is scheduled for October 26-27 at UPEI Alumni Canada Games Place in Charlottetown, P.E.I.

This is the second year the AUS women's rugby championship will be played over one weekend at a single location. The format was piloted last year in Antigonish, N.S. by host school St. Francis Xavier.  The championship will consist of two semifinal contests on Saturday afternoon, with the final scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m.

Saturday's opening semifinal game will feature the first-place Acadia Axewomen (7-1) taking on the fourth place UPEI Panthers (2-6) at 12 p.m. The second semifinal will see the StFX X-Women (tied for first with a 7-1 record) take on the Saint Mary's Huskies (third place, 4-4) at 2 p.m.

Note: The Acadia Axewomen and StFX women tied with identical 7-1 records, however Acadia finished in first place based on point differential in head-to-head play. The two teams split their season series 1-1, but Acadia had a point differential of +24 in the two games, so they will be the top seed for this weekend's championship.

The 2013 AUS women's rugby awards and all-stars will be announced and presented at an awards banquet Friday evening at the host hotel, the Rodd Charlottetown, at 6:30 p.m.

The Subway AUS women's rugby championship schedule is as follows:

Semifinal #1: UPEI (4th) vs. Acadia (1st), 12 p.m.
Semifinal #2: Saint Mary's (3rd) vs. StFX (2nd), 2 p.m.

The 2013 CIS women's rugby championship is scheduled for Oct. 31 - Nov. 3 and will be hosted by Université Laval at Stade Telus in Quebec City, Que.
