Halifax, NS – The StFX X-Women fell 6-1 to the Saint Mary's Huskies Saturday night in exhibition action at the Halifax Forum. It was the second loss to the same Huskies squad.

The Huskies wasted no time getting on board as Taylor Keeping found the back of the StFX net just 50 seconds into the opening period. Brooke Murphy gave the home team a 2-0 lead with a power play marker at 7:14.

The X-Women got one back before the period was over, however, as Kate Gotaas scored with 44 seconds left. StFX was outshot 18-4 in the first period.

The second period saw more even play as X held a slight 11-10 shot advantage but could not capitalize on any scoring chances. The one goal of the period came off the stick of Huskies Ellen Laurence just over 12 minutes in.

SMU held onto the 3-1 lead after 40 minutes of play.

The Huskies came out strong in the third period as Aimee O'Neill and Shae Demale scored less than a minute part in the opening three minutes to give them a commanding 5-1 advantage.

Laura Horwood rounded out the Huskies scoring late in the period as Saint Mary's outshot the X-Women by a 39-24 margin in the game.

Ashley Forler and Dagny Hudspeth split the time in the Huskies net in the winning effort, while Madison McClure was tagged with the loss for StFX.

The X-Women will be back in exhibition action on Friday, September 27th when they host Dalhousie at the StFX Keating Centre auxiliary arena. Puck drop is 7:00 pm.
