Montreal, QC – The StFX X-Women wrapped up the Concordia Theresa Humes tournament with a 1-0 victory over the Nipissing Lakers from the OUA Sunday afternoon in exhibition action.
The win gave the X-Women a 1-2 tournament record in third place. Nipissing finished 0-3 in fourth place. The host Concordia squad was second at 2-1 and NCAA Syracuse were tournament winners with a perfect 3-0 record.
In Sunday's game, the X-Women were actually outshot by the Lakers in a close 26-24 margin but held on for the win.
Emerson Elliott's goal just 17 seconds into the second period was all StFX needed for the shutout win. The marker was set-up by Kristen McKinley.
Carley Molnar posted 26 saves in the X-Women net to secure the shutout win.
The AUS second place X-Women (10-3-3) will resume regular season play on Friday, January 4th when the host the UNB Reds in a 7:00 pm at the Keating Centre.
