Fredericton, NB - The CIS ranked No. 7 St. Thomas Tommies dropped a 2-0 decision to the St. Francis Xavier X-Women in AUS women's hockey action Tuesday night in front of over 250 spectators at the Grant-Harvey Centre.

StFX's Sojun Shin made 37 saves in the win, while the Tommies' Taylor Cook made 20 in the loss.

This was only the third time this season the Tommies were shutout, and it was the first time they were held scoreless at home.

The Tommies and X-Women played to a scoreless first period, despite each team getting a chance on the power play. Shots on goal after 20 minutes were 6-6.

The Tommies came out firing in the second, forcing Shin to make some big saves. It was the X-Women who struck first though, with Kara Power profiting off a Tommies' turnover to put StFX up 1-0 as she scored an unassisted goal.

Despite outshooting the X-Women 15-6 in the frame, the Tommies weren't able to capitalize.

It was back and forth in the third, with the Tommies generating most of the scoring opportunities. Searching for the equalizer and unable to find it, the Tommies pulled Cook with 1:22 to go. X-Women forward Sarah Bujold capitalized 20 seconds later, scoring on the empty net to give the X-Women the 2-0 win.

Shin was named the Subway Player of the Game, while Power and STU's Kelty Apperson were named the game's second and third stars, respectively.

The Tommies are back in action this Saturday when they travel to Halifax to take on the Dalhousie Tigers.

The X-Women will host the Mount Allison Mounties Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm at the StFX Keating Centre.
