(Halifax, NS) On Sunday night at the Halifax Forum the StFX X-Women took down the Dalhousie Tigers 5-2 in AUS women's hockey action. Subway player of the game Kara Power had three points in the winning effort for the X-Women.

It was a slow first period that didn't feature too many scoring chances. Both goalies were barely tested, as the puck seemed to be clogged in the neutral ice for majority of the frame.

StFX outshot the Tigers 8-5 in the opening 20 minutes of play.

It was all X-Women in the second period as they put up four goals to the Tigers one. Dalhousie struggled to contain the line of Kara Power, Taylor Dale, and Daley Oddy who accounted for three of the four X-Women goals.

Power started the offensive explosion with a beautiful shorthanded goal four minutes into the second period. Sarah Bujold sprung Power on a break away with a beautiful pass who made no mistake beating Tigers netminder Jessica Severeyns with a low blocker shot.

Taylor Dale quickly followed up the Power tally adding one of her own just two minutes later giving the X-Women a 2-0 lead. Daley Oddy assisted on the Power goal.

Tara Mourning was able to slow the X-Women rush down adding a goal of her own for the Tigers as she backhanded a shot past a screened Pascale Daigle in the X-Women net, cutting the lead to 2-1 for StFX midway through the second period.

The line of Power, Dale and Oddy were back at it again adding their third goal of the game 15:13 into the period. Power let a shot go from the point that Severeyns could not control leaving a wide-open cage for Oddy to put the X-Women up 3-1.

Schyler Campell was able to stretch the X lead to 4-1 with just 18 seconds remaining in the period as she was left all alone in front of the Tigers net and tipped home a shot from Nicole Halladay while on the power play.

In the third period the X-Women kept up the pressure hemming the Tigers in their own zone for majority of the frame.

Lisa MacLean managed to net a goal for the Tigers half way through the period. She popped out from behind the net and made her way to the high slot where she ripped a shot through traffic.

Kara Power notched her second goal of the night (from Oddy and Dale) on the empty net with 11 seconds left for a final score of 5-2.

Dalhousie (5-6) will be action next Saturday when they host St. Thomas (6-4-1) at 4:30pm at the Halifax Forum.

The game marked the final one of the first term for the X-Women (6-5-1). They will next see the ice on January 2-4 when they head to Montreal for the Concordia invitational tournament for exhibition action.
