Halifax, NS - Sarah Bujold (Riverview, NB), with her second goal of the game, lifted the StFX X-Women to a 3-2 overtime win over the Saint Mary's Huskies in AUS exhibition hockey action Friday night.

At 1:15 of the extra session, the sophomore forward converted on assists from Emma Winters (Lower Sackville, NS) and Kara Power (New Glasgow, NS).

"We played very well. It was a tight game," X-Women head coach David Synishin said.

Out of the four exhibition games played by StFX so far this season, he added this effort against Saint Mary's was the one where his team "battled the hardest."

"It was great to see, especially in that rink, where it is difficult to play," Synishin said of Alumni Arena on the Saint Mary's campus, which is known for its close confines.

Laura Polak (Bedford, NS) gave the Huskies a 1-0 advantage at 6:30 of the first period. Sarah Douglas (Whitby, ON) assisted on the power-play marker.

With 30 seconds remaining in the opening 20 minutes, Kara Power knotted the score on the power play. Daley Oddy (Cranbrook, BC) and Bujold, who had three points in the contest, provided assists.

At 2:43 of the second period, Saint Mary's regained the lead, with Mary Worndl (Lunenburg, NS) and Douglas setting up Moira MacDonald (Cole Harbour, NS).

Bujold made it 2-2 from Oddy and Kara Power, who tallied two and three points, respectively, in the game.

"That whole line played really well; they worked really hard and got some great results," Synishin said of the Bujold-Oddy-Power combination.

Pascale Daigle (Irishtown, NB) made 38 saves for the win, while Justine McIntosh (East St. Paul, MA) turned aside 27 shots in the loss.

"She played extremely well," Synishin said of his goaltender.

He added Daigle has played well in both of her outings during pre-season action, noting she is using her speed and playing angles aggressively, which are keys to her success.

The X-Women will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 3, when they host the Dalhousie Tigers. Puck drop is set for 3 p.m. at the Keating Centre auxiliary ice surface.
