Fredericton, NB – The CIS ranked No. 6 StFX X-Women earned their 18th consecutive AUS victory with a 3-0 shutout over the St. Thomas Tommies Saturday afternoon in front of 181 spectators at the Grant-Harvey Centre.

Jenna Downey and Sarah Bujold each tallied a goal and an assist in the win, while Daley Oddy grabbed two assists.

"It's frustrating," Tommies head coach Peter Murphy said after the game. "We seem to do some things well and then all of a sudden we don't do one little thing right."

"X played well today. They showed why they're in first place," he added.

The first period was scoreless, despite both teams getting a chance on the power play. The X-Women outshot the Tommies, but STU goaltender Abby Clarke steered away all 12 shots she faced to keep StFX off the board.

Downey opened the scoring 3:22 into the second on the power play, finishing a feed from Alex Normore and Schyler Campbell to put the X-Women up 1-0.

Taylor Dale extended StFX's lead at 7:49 after profiting off a scramble that left Clark on her back in the crease and the cage empty. Oddy and Bujold had the helpers.

The X-Women's momentum continued in the third when Bujold capitalized on a Tommies penalty to put StFX up 3-0 6:41 into the frame. Oddy and Downey assisted on the play.

"I think it was just a little bit loose on our power play towards the end," Murphy said of the goal.

The Tommies pressured late but couldn't beat X-Women netminder Sojung Shin who turned aside 14 shots for the shutout victory. The win marked her fourth shutout of the season and 12th victory overall.

Shin leads the CIS with an impressive 0.99 goals against average and is third in the country with a .953 save percentage.

The X-Women outshot the home team 33-14.

The Tommies are back in action tomorrow when they host the Dalhousie Tigers. The X-Women will travel to Sackville to face off against the Mount Allison Mounties at 2:00 pm.
