Antigonish, NS - Powered by a three-goal rally in the third period, the StFX X-Women scored a 4-3 come-from-behind win over the St. Thomas Tommies Saturday afternoon in AUS hockey action at the Keating Centre in Antigonish.
Fifth-year forward Alex Normore scored the tying and game-winning goals in a 23-second span in the final minute of regulation to lead her team to the win.
At 19:06 of the third period, Normore, on an assist from X-Women goaltender Pascale Daigle, tied the game 3-3. On assists from linemates Kara Power and Daley Oddy, she notched the winner at 19:29.
For her effort, the Bedford was named first star of the game.
The Tommies led 2-0 after the first period.
At 4:13, Caley Steinert opened the scoring with an unassisted goal on the powerplay.
The Tommies doubled their advantage at the 11:45 mark on a goal from Becky Conner, the game's third star, with assists coming from Teah Anderson and Stephanie Ford.
At 1:46 of the second period, the X-Women sliced the lead in half on a goal from second star Schyler Campbell with assists coming from team captain Taylor Dale and Connor Garagan.
After Conner scored unassisted to make it 3-1 early in the third period, Dale, from Campbell, cut the lead to one goal.
StFX outshot St. Thomas 41-22, including 18 to five in the pivotal third period. Daigle earned the win, while Abby Clarke took the loss for the Tommies.
The X-Women return to action Sunday, Nov. 2, when they host the Saint Mary's Huskies. Puck drop is set for 2 p.m. at the Keating Centre.
