X-Women shutout Mounties

Antigonish, NS - The CIS No. 7 ranked X-Women hockey team maintained their first place position atop the AUS conference with a 5-0 victory over the Mount Allison Mounties Sunday afternoon at the Keating Centre.

Veteran forward Erin Brophy scored two goals for the X-Women and freshman goaltender Sojung Shin had 23 saves for the shutout win.

Power scored StFX's second goal of the game at 6:20 of the second period, picking up a Connor Garagan pass in the slot and beating O'Brien with a nice shot. Heather Tillsley also picked a helper on the play.

The X-Women held a 3-0 lead after 40 minutes as Subway player of the game Brophy scored her first of the game at 14:25 on a nifty give-and-go play with linemate Alex Normore.

CIS leading scorer Normore assisted on all three of the X-Women's final goals.

StFX scored two quick third period goals 37 seconds apart. Freshman defense Nicole Corcoran netted the fourth goal of the afternoon on the power play (14:00) as her low shot from the point went through traffic to beat Keri Martin, who had replace O'Brien for the third period.
