CIS No. 4 X-Women pick up second weekend win

The CIS No. 4 StFX X-Women picked up their 10th consecutive AUS win to remain undefeated in league play with a 5-2 victory over the Dalhousie Tigers Saturday night in Halifax.

Subway player of the game Alex Normore led the blue and white with two goals and an assist as they picked up their second win of the weekend, having defeated Mount Allison Friday night at home by the same 5-2 score.

The teams exchanged first period goals with Elena Tsitouras opening the scoring in the game for the Tigers with a shorthanded marker at 14:47, from Courtney Sheedy.

StFX's Kara Power replied just 14 seconds later while the X-Women were on the same power play advantage. Taylor Dale and Erin Brophy had the helpers.

The X-Women built a 3-1 lead after two periods of play with second period goals from Molly MacDonald (unassisted) and Dale (Normore and Jenna Pitts). MacDonald scored shorthanded at 5:02, while Dale notched a power play goal at 15:05.

StFX outshot the Tigers 33-13 through 40 minutes of play.

The Tigers closed the X lead to one goal with a power play goal off the stick of Jennifer Thompson 9:43 into the third period. Lisa MacLean was in on the set-up.

Normore then broke open the game with a pair of goals, scoring at 11:56 and 14:14. Her first goal was assisted by Daley Oddy, while the latter was an unassisted shorthanded marker, as she increased her league leading point tally to 25 points.

Final shots in the game were 40-24 in favor of the X-Women. Pascale Daigle earned the win in the StFX net with 24 saves while Jeanne Morin took the loss for the Tigers.

Next on the schedule for the X-Women (10-0-1) is a home game against the Universite de Moncton Aigles Bleues (4-7-1) on Friday, November 29th. Game time is 7:00 pm.
