Antigonish, NS – The Saint Mary's Huskies won their second straight game over the StFX X-Women, this time by an 88-72 score Saturday night at the StFX Saputo Centre.

SMU played to an 88-80 victory over the same X-Women squad Wednesday night in Halifax in the home-and-home games.

It was the X-Women who got out to the early edge on Saturday night, however, as they opened up a 20-17 lead after the first quarter of play. Freshman center Karina Sarai (Surrey, BC) netted eight points for the X-Women.

Alaina McMillan (Brantford, ON) was a sharp shooter for the Huskies, scoring 11 points in the opening quarter, including a pair of three-pointers.

The second quarter saw the Huskies turn the game around as they outscored the X-Women 25-13 to take a 42-33 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Kendra MacKinnon (Pictou, NS) drained a couple treys as the Huskies were sharp from beyond the arc, shooting 40.7% in the game from three-point range.

Saint Mary's held the X-Women to 15 points in the third quarter, while scoring 23 themselves to go up 65-48.

They used their bench in the fourth quarter and spread out the scoring, though the X-Women played a stronger quarter and edged the Huskies 24-23 though the lead was too much to overcome as Saint Mary's held on for the win, their fourth of the season.

McMillan lead the Huskies with 20 points on the night and dished out seven assists. Ariana Macias (Tampa, FL) scored 15 and Clara Gascoigne (Dartmouth, NS) netted 14 and led the team with nine rebounds.

For the X-Women, Marley Bonnick (Brampton, ON) led the scoring with 19 points and added seven rebounds and seven assists. Kim Kingsbury (Nepean, ON) scored 16 and Sarai finished with 12 points, along with three blocks in the game.

X-Women guard Aliyah Fraser (New Glasgow, NS) had a double-double night with 10 points and 10 rebounds in the losing effort.

StFX had 20 turnovers in the game to the Huskies eight.

The X-Women will next see action on Saturday, November 23rd when they host Memorial at 6:00 pm in a game worth four points in the AUS standings.

The Huskies will also be in action on November 23rd in a four-point game when they travel to Fredericton for a 6pm tip-off against UNB.
