X-Women drop close game to Waterloo

Waterloo, ON – The X-Women basketball team opened up pre-season exhibition play on the losing end of a close 58-52 game against the host Waterloo Warriors in their first game at the Naismith Classic tournament.

The teams played close first half with the Warriors holding a slight 29-28 advantage at halftime. A 19-12 fourth quarter in favor of Waterloo made the difference in the game down the stretch.

The X-Women used all 12 of their players in the game in a well-rounded attack. Kendra Smith scored 9 points and had 4 rebounds while freshman Kim Kingsbury scored 8 and had 3 boards.

Katie MacIntosh led the way defensively with 6 rebounds for the X-Women and Jamie McCarron chipped in with 7 points.

The X-Women had less turnovers (15) than the Warriors (18) and were able to turn 20 points off the Waterloo miscues.

The Warriors top scorer was Afifa Salad with 17 points.
