X-Women pick up second win at MSVU tournament

Halifax, NS – The X-Women basketball team improved to 2-0 at the MSVU Dyrick McDermott Invitational tournament with a 74-55 victory over the host Mystics squad Saturday afternoon.

Player of the Game Lindsay Lessard led the X-Women with 15 points, six rebounds and three assists.

The blue and white got out to a 23-11 lead after the first quarter and were leading 41-19 at halftime. The X-Women were up by as much as 26 in the third quarter en route to the win.

Kolbi Roper and Shannon Hatch each scored eight points for StFX, as did freshman guard Holly Scott off the bench. Scott was 2-for-4 from three-point range. Kimberley Taylor added seven points for the X-Women who converted 20 points on 22 Mystics turnovers in the game.

Maria Carroll was the high scorer for MSVU with 13 points while Danielle Young added 10.

The X-Women next see action Saturday night when they play the St. Thomas Tommies at 8:00 pm.
