Halifax, NS – The StFX X-Women opened action at the Mount Saint Vincent Dyrick McDermott Invitational tournament with a commanding 75-33 victory over the Mount Allison Mounties.
The X-Women got out to a 21-2 first quarter lead and never looked back.
Freshman center Kendra Smith earned player of the game honors for StFX as she netted 11 points and had four rebounds.
Lindsay Lessard scored 14 and had three boards while Shannon Hatch contributed eight points. Kolbi Roper added eight points and six rebounds. Scoring was spread out as all 14 members of the blue and white saw action on the court.
Sarah McGeachy and Kiersten Mangold each scored eight points for the Mounties.
The X-Women will next see action Saturday morning when they play the host MSVU Mystics at 11:00 am. They follow up with an 8:00 pm game Saturday night against St. Thomas. The Mystics defeated the Tommies 69-56 on Friday.
