X-Women hoopsters lose to Capers

Halifax, NS – The StFX X-Women faced the Cape Breton Capers in their second game at the Dalhousie Centennial tournament and found themselves on the losing end of a 72-63 game.

The Capers got out to a 23-19 lead after the first quarter but the X-Women fought back in the second quarter and found themselves down by three points at half time, 40-37.

The third quarter was another close ten minutes of play between the two teams, leading to the game being decided in the final quarter as the Capers outscored the X-Women 13-9 en route to the win.

Colleen Keane led the Capers in scoring with 18 points and had a double-double night hauling in 13 rebounds. Jalynn Skeir scored 13 and Natasha Roach and Alison Keough each added 10 points apiece.

For the X-Women, Lindsay Lessard scored a game-high 23 points and had five boards. Kayla MacIntyre scored 14 off the bench for StFX and Courtney Kilyk scored nine.

The X-Women will wrap up tournament play on Sunday when they take on the Saint Mary's Huskies at 12:00 pm at the Dalplex.
